Social Engineering, AI, and the New Risk for Companies

LeadFrame · March 2026

The New Risk Is Not Only Technical

When people think about AI risk, they think about:

  • AI replacing jobs
  • AI making mistakes
  • AI security problems

But there is another risk that is growing very fast: social engineering with AI.

AI can now:

  • Write perfect emails
  • Imitate writing styles
  • Generate voice messages
  • Generate video
  • Create fake documents
  • Summarize internal information
  • Write very convincing messages

This makes attacks much more dangerous.

The Weak Point Is Still People

Most security problems are not technical problems. They are human problems:

  • Someone shares a password
  • Someone clicks a link
  • Someone downloads a file
  • Someone trusts a message
  • Someone sends information to the wrong person

AI makes social engineering much more convincing and much more scalable.

What Companies Should Do

Leaders should assume that:

  • Fake emails will be perfect
  • Fake voice messages will be possible
  • Fake video calls will be possible
  • AI will try to imitate managers or executives

So companies must:

  • Train employees
  • Reduce access to sensitive information
  • Use approval systems for payments
  • Use multi-factor authentication
  • Document processes for sensitive operations
  • Never rely on a single message for important decisions

Security in the AI era is not only an IT problem. It is an organizational problem.
